Live & Work at the Grand Canyon!

Who We Are

Grand Canyon Conservancy is the official non-profit partner to Grand Canyon National Park. We help the park service with programs and trail endowments through our member-based organization that currently has over 22 thousand supporters.

What We Do

Through our eight retail stores located at the North and South Rims of the Grand Canyon, we sell books and items that are educational and approved by the park service.

Our retail stores are where we seek Workampers that want to come experience one of the magnificent seven natural wonders of the world for a season. A season is either Summer Season, April to October, or Winter Season, October to April. The North Rim stores are only open in the summer and operate mid-May to mid-October.

What You Can Expect

Though the Grand Canyon’s scenery is unparalleled, it is remote. Applicants should be prepared to live and work in an isolated environment.

Most Grand Canyon Conservancy offices and bookstores are located on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in northwest Arizona, approximately 60 miles north of Williams and 85 miles northwest of Flagstaff at an elevation of 7,000 feet. There is no convenient public transportation from the park to Flagstaff or Williams.

Grand Canyon Village has schools for K–12, a daycare center, a post office, general store, banking facilities, churches, a recreation center, a clinic with resident physicians and several restaurants.

The park community consists of approximately 2,000 people, including employees of the National Park Service, Grand Canyon Conservancy, and concessionaires, as well as their families. There may be employment opportunities for family members in the park and surrounding areas. The park community is small enough that many employees choose to walk or bike from their homes to work.

Average temperatures at the South Rim range from 85°F in the summer to 17°F in the winter.

What Our Employees Say

Our experience working for Grand Canyon Conservancy saw our first season arriving on Thanksgiving Day; as our first Work Camping gig, we were a little nervous. Invited to a Thanksgiving pot luck, we arrived in time and decided to go and introduce ourselves. So glad we did! We were immediately welcomed into the Conservancy family. This non-profit has a strong sense of community and mission which makes them easy to work for and to share their passion for preserving and protecting a truly grand place. They are excellent in preparing you for the job, working with you when you need flexibility and are very appreciative of your efforts to do the job well. We highly recommend working for the conservancy; it is a 5-Star opportunity to learn and experience the Grand Canyon. We returned for a second season and hopefully will return in the future.

We clicked on the link at workamper.com for the first time and were pleasantly surprised to find so many options to select from. There was one that caught both of our eyes, "Come be a part of something Grand. Live and work at the Grand Canyon". Was this too good to be true? So we sent our resumes in by e-mail, and life hasn't been the same. The phone interviews were not only easy but fun and the best thing was hearing, when can you start? The management at the Grand Canyon Conservancy has been professional and friendly. We have become fast friends with the staff and our co-workers. We would recommend the GCC and the hiking is Grand too. - The Cramers
